Peer Reviewer
SIGMA ABDIMAS: Jurnal Sinergi Inovasi dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and scientific contribution of published articles. The review process is designed to maintain academic integrity and ensure that published manuscripts provide meaningful contributions to community service, innovation, and community empowerment.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are first examined by the editor to assess their alignment with the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, completeness, and overall suitability for publication. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for technical corrections or rejected without proceeding to peer review.
2. Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are sent to qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Relevance to the journal's focus and scope.
-
Originality and contribution to community service and empowerment.
-
Clarity of the problem statement, objectives, and proposed solutions.
-
Appropriateness of the implementation methods.
-
Validity and adequacy of the data and supporting evidence.
-
Quality of the results, discussion, and analysis of impacts.
-
Sustainability and practical significance of the community service activities.
-
Quality of academic writing, citations, and references.
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts.
3. Review Model
SIGMA ABDIMAS uses a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts do not contain identifying information in the main document that could compromise the anonymity of the review. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and declare any potential conflicts of interest before undertaking a review.
4. Editorial Decisions
Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the editor's assessment, a manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:
-
Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without major revisions.
-
Minor Revision: The manuscript requires limited corrections or improvements.
-
Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial revisions before it can be reconsidered.
-
Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's publication standards or is unsuitable for publication.
The final publication decision rests with the editor, taking into consideration the reviewers' comments and the journal's editorial policies.
5. Revision Process
Authors whose manuscripts require revision must address the reviewers' comments carefully and provide a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed. If a recommendation cannot be implemented, authors should provide a clear academic justification. Revised manuscripts must be submitted within the deadline specified by the editor. Depending on the extent of the revisions, the manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.
6. Confidentiality and Publication Ethics
All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage and must not share manuscript content with unauthorized parties. Reviewers are expected to disclose any conflicts of interest and decline assignments when they cannot provide an impartial assessment. Editors and reviewers must uphold the principles of fairness, confidentiality, academic integrity, and responsible publication practices.
7. Review Duration
The duration of the review process may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the extent of revisions required. Authors will be informed of editorial decisions and any subsequent actions through the journal's online submission system. SIGMA ABDIMAS is committed to conducting a fair, transparent, and constructive review process to support the publication of high-quality articles that contribute to innovation, community empowerment, and sustainable community development.
